LONDON, March 7 (Xinhuanet) -- World footballer Ronaldinho scored with a breath-taking performance as Barcelona knocked Chelsea out of the Champions League after a 1-1 draw in the second leg of last 16 on Tuesday.

Emerson turned out savior for Juventus as he stroked home in the 88th minute to give the Italian giant a 2-1 win over Werder Bremen, pushing the Old Lady into the final eight on away goals after 4-4 on aggregate.

Villarreal also went through to the quarter-finals on away goals after they held Rangers to a 1-1 tie at home with both sides aggregating at 3-3.

Chelsea seldom got chances before a solid defence by Barcelona with Didier Drogba heading tamely and Joe Cole flicking the ball just over.

Hernan Crespo sent a near-post shot wide for the visitors before Ronaldinho expertly fired in after 78 minutes.

The Brazilian took the ball from Samuel Eto'o, 35 yards out andtook off towards goal. He rode a challenge from Terry and fired a shot low past Petr Cech from just inside the box.

A Frank Lampard penalty in injury time came too late for Chelsea who need at least one goal to force an extra-time.

Werder Bremen keeper Tim Wiese made an awful error two minutes late on to gift Juve victory on the away-goals rule.

The Italian giants were on the verge of a shock exit when Wiese dropped the ball at Emerson's feet and the Brazilian stroked home.

Wiese had been superb until that point after Johan Micoud coolly converted to give the visitors a 4-2 aggregate lead.

David Trezeguet drove home to give Juve hope before Wiese's error saw the Italian side into the last eight.

Rangers were distraught at the final whistle as their dream of becoming the first Scottish side in the quarter-finals of the Champions League ended after they lost on the away-goals rule to Villarreal.

Rangers took an early lead when Peter Lovenkrands drove the ball home from 16 yards at the Estadio el Madrigal.

Ronald Waterreus saved well from Diego Forlan in a rare Villarreal break as Rangers dominated the first half.

But Rodolfo Arruabarrena fired in the equalizer from a Forlan cross and Villarreal held on for the draw. Enditem
