Cambodia deports US euthanasia advocate
www.chinaview.cn 2006-03-06 13:01:03

PHNOM PENH, March 6 (Xinhuanet) -- Cambodian government deported an American euthanasia advocate on Saturday, saying that he was engaged activities that damaged Cambodia's interests, local media reported on Monday.

Roger Graham, an American citizen, is now on government's blacklist and will not be welcomed back, The Cambodia Daily quotedInterior Ministry spokesman Khieu Sopheak as saying.

Graham was arrested on last Thursday under the order of government. Graham, who came to Cambodia in 2003, ran a Blue Mountain Cafe in Kampot province and operated two websites promoting Cambodia as a euthanasia destination.

His websites were accused to be responsible for the suicide of a British woman in the province last year.

Khieu Sopheak said that Graham encouraged foreigners to commit suicide in Cambodia, which is running counter to the civilized world.

"The Ministry of Interior, according to the law, has a right to deport every foreigner outside of Cambodia if they will damage or be a danger to the interests of Cambodia," he added. Enditem
