Hoffman, Witherspoon win actor, actress Oscars

    LOS ANGELES, March 5 (Xinhuanet) -- Philip Seymour Hoffman won the Oscar for best actor for "Capote," a biography of a U.S. writer, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Sunday evening in Hollywood.

    The best actress Oscar went to Reese Witherspoon for "Walk the Line."

    Dion Beebe won the Oscar for cinematography for "Memoirs of a Geisha."

    It was the third win of the film starred by Chinese actress Zi-yi Zhang. Earlier, "Geisha" had won awards for art direction and costume design.

    Hughes Winborne has won the Oscar for achievement in film editing for "Crash." Enditem
