444 children killed in decade conflict in Nepal

    KATHMANDU, March 6 (Xinhuanet) -- The decade-long conflict in Nepal has already claimed lives of at least 444 children, a report issued here on Monday said.

    According to the report released by Child Workers in Nepal Concerned Center, a non-governmental organization, more than 44,000 children have been displaced due to the conflict.

    The report also said that 63 children died in conflict in 2005, while 10 were killed in January alone this year.

    On average, 41 children were killed in the ongoing conflict in the country every year, it said.

    The year 2001 witnessed the highest number of child victims as 144 children lost their lives in the conflict, the report said. Enditem
