BANGKOK, March 5 (Xinhuanet) -- Police security has been stepped up at Thailand's
Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's residence and several other key
sites in the capital amid fears they could be the target of protestors scheduled
to hold a mass anti-government rally here later Sunday.
A total of 50 officers have been deployed at the prime minister's residence and in
surrounding streets. The number of police will be increased to 150 as the Sanam
Luang (Royal Square) rally of the People's Alliance for Democracy gets
under way.
Similar security measures are also in place at Government House, less than 10 kilometers away from Sanam Luang, and at the office of the prime minister's Thai Rak Thai party. Enditem |
