Tornado sweeps 6 villages in Bangladesh, killing 4

    DHAKA, March 5 (Xinhuanet) -- Local sources confirmed here Sunday that a tornado swept over 6 villages of Bagerhat district of south Bangladesh on Saturday night, killing 4 people and injuring over 50 others.

    Local sources said the tornado, which lasted for little more than a minute, hit Mejurbaria, Rekia Rajapur, Dhansagar, Bandhaghata, Dakkhin Badhal and Savarer Par villages at about 9 p.m., causing huge damage to dwellings and trees.

    More than 500 houses, schools and religious institutions were damaged and hundreds of trees uprooted by the tornado.

    Some of the injured were rushed to local hospital. Enditem
