BEIJING, March. 4 -- One of the China's promising paddlers, Qiu Yike, has been banned from the sport for one year.

    The country's largest internet portal, Sina.com has reported Saturday that the young table tennis player will be banned from domestic and international competition for one year for voilating team rules.

    In addition, the talented paddler will be relegated to the second-string team.

    Qiu has been punished several times for failing to abide by team regulations. It has been reported that he stayed out late drinking with some old friends during the national trials for the World Team Championships last month.
