BEIJING, March 3 (Xinhuanet) -- Nine press conferences will be held for this year's annual sessions of China's top legislature and advisory body in about two weeks, sources said Friday.

The most high-profile conference should be the one given by Premier Wen Jiabao at the end of the Fourth Session of the Tenth National People's Congress (NPC).

Jiang Enzhu, spokesman for the upcoming NPC session, will answer journalists' questions at a press conference on March 4.

Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing will talk about current international situation and China's foreign policy.

Another four press conferences focusing on major problems arising from the country's social and economic development will be organized, according to sources with the NPC Standing Committee.

The Ministry of Agriculture will host a press conference on building new countryside. The State Development and Reform Commission will explain the Eleventh Five-year (2006-2010) Program on economic and social development. The Ministry of Science and Technology will inform reporters about building an innovation-oriented country.

The State Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Land and Resources, and State Environmental Protection Administration will jointly hold a press conference on building an energy-saving and environment-friendly society.

In addition, two press conferences, specifically sponsored by the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), will cover the topics of the Eleventh Five-year Program and the construction of a harmonious society. Enditem
