NEW DELHI, March 3 (Xinhuanet) -- Terming India's nuclear non-proliferation record as "excellent", U.S. President George W. Bushsaid Friday in West Indian city Hyderabad that this would enable him to sell to the American people the nuclear energy deal, Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) reported here.

"India has been an excellent partner in non-proliferation over the past decades and, therefore, I can tell the American people that this is an important agreement to help deal with the proliferation issue," IANS quoted Bush as saying during an interaction with 16 entrepreneurs at the Indian School of Business here.

The nuclear deal, Bush said, would help India meet its growing energy needs.

"For India, it makes sense because it will enable India to be able to meet its electricity needs in a way that doesn't pollute the air. The United States and India must use technologies to ensure our economies expand but (we must also be) good stewards of the environment," Bush said.

Nuclear power is a renewable source of energy and there is zero greenhouse gas emissions, the president added. Enditem
