DAKAR, March 1 (Xinhuanet) -- Malian Minister of
Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Moctar Ouane on Wednesday
criticized Taiwan leader Chen Shui-bian for his move to cease the function of
the "National Unification Council" and the application of its guidelines.
During a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Mali Wei
Wenhua, Ouane said the Malian government is deeply concerned about Chen's move,
saying that the Taiwan leader has moved further on his road to seek "Taiwan
independence" and would gravely endanger peace and stability across the Taiwan
Straits, according to reports from Mali's capital Bamako.
The Malian government firmly believes that China can
achieve the great cause of peaceful reunification through the efforts of the
Chinese government and people, said the minister.
Mali will continue to adhere to the one-China
principle and support the Chinese government and people in their fight against
Chen's secessionist moves aimed at seeking "Taiwan independence," Ouane noted.
