BEIJING, March 1 (Xinhuanet) -- The General Office of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee issued Opinions of the CPC Central Committee on Strengthening the Work of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) on Wednesday.

    The CPPCC is an important organ of multi-party cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the CPC, the document said.

    The party has always attached great importance to the development of the CPPCC.

    The major function of the CPPCC is to conduct political consultation and exercise democratic supervision, organize its members from various non-Communist political parties, mass organizations and public personages from all walks of life to take part in the discussion and management of state affairs, it said.

    The CPPCC, as China's national advisory body, is a significant component of  the country's governance structure, the document said, stressing that CPPCC's will play a bigger role and improve its performance. Enditem
