BANGKOK, March 1 (Xinhuanet) -- Thailand's Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra on Wednesday ruled out his resignation from office, as demanded by protesters, the Thai news Agency reported.

Thaksin urged the Thai public not to believe in various rumours, including one circulating at the Stock Exchange of Thailand during trading hours Wednesday that he was about to tender his resignation in the face of the ongoing political crisis.

"The country's rife with all sorts of rumours and I'd like to urge the public not to worry because I stand by my principles of abiding by the Constitution and guarding the democratic system," Thaksin said.

Thaksin confirmed that he is going to appear at a rally on Friday (March 3) at Sanam Luang (Royal Square), ahead the demonstration planned by those calling for his resignation by March 5. Enditem
