Thai supreme commander sees no coup to be staged

    BANGKOK, March 1 (Xinhuanet) -- Thai Supreme Commander Gen. Ruangroj Mahasaranon insisted on Wednesday that no coup would be staged by the military to end the political crisis.

    Ruangroj said he did not understand why coup rumors had spread.

    "There will be no coup, believe me. The situation is still going well," the supreme commander said.

    He said he believed there would be no problem with the upcomingrally against Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra on Friday.

    "Thai people have changed. Thai people will not use violence now," he said. Enditem
