Thai govt spokesman denies rumor Thaksin to resign

    BANGKOK, March 1 (Xinhuanet) -- Thai Government Spokesman Suraphong Suebwonglee on Wednesday denied rumors that Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra would resign, and that he was not scheduled to meet General Prem Tinsulanond, chairman of the King's Privy Council.

    Local media reported earlier that Thaksin plans to meet General Prem Wednesday, which may be a sign that a solution to the current political standoff may be found. Enditem
