ABU DHABI, Feb. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will always support Palestinian people in restoring their lawful national rights, especially in establishing an independent Palestinian state, UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahayan said on Tuesday.

The UAE president made the remarks during a meeting with the visiting Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the capital.

During the meeting, Abbas briefed his host on domestic and international responses to the stunning victory of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in last month's Palestinian legislative elections.

Abbas also expressed his gratitude for the all-along support from the people of UAE.

Abbas arrived here on Monday for a two-day visit to the oil-rich country. Enditem
