BANGKOK, Feb. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- Thailand's Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra said on Tuesday that the date of snap elections could be postponed from April 2 if it gets a permit from the Election Commission of Thailand.
"It (new elections day) is up to the Election Commission," Thaksin said during a press conference here on Tuesday. But he insisted that the polls must be held within 60 days since last Friday's Parliament Dissolution.
As a leader of the ruling Thai Rak Thai Party, Thaksin said that he is ready to accept every decision made by the Election Commission, according to Thai newspaper the Manager's website.
Thaksin called the snap elections last Friday in response to protests by tens of thousands this month, calling for him to resign over corruption allegations. Enditem |
