BAGHDAD, Feb. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- A bomb blast damaged a Sunni Muslim mosque in northern Baghdad early on Tuesday morning, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua.
"Unidentified gunmen blew up explosive charges in a Sunni mosque in the Huriyah district after they stormed it early in the morning," the source said on condition of anonymity.
The blast badly damaged the mosque, he said.
The attack came after a spate of sectarian violence following the bombing last week of one of the most revered Shiite shrines in Samarra, some 120 km north of Baghdad. Enditem |
