BANGKOK, Feb. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- Gen. Sonthi Boonyaratkalin, the Royal Thai Army Chief insisted on Tuesday that Thai Army has no idea to use the force to overthrow the government although thousands of people had made street rally calling for resignation of Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

"Thai military will surely not make violence to suppress on thecivilians who are against the government. The standing point of Thai military is to be neutral," Sonthi said, adding that he believed he could control the army.

He also warned Thai people to concern about national interests, saying he hoped to see peace and compromisation in the society.

However, he refused to answer how the military would react in case that there was a new Prime Minister assigned by the King of Thailand. It is too early to talk about such things that still nothappened, he said. Enditem
