BEIJING, Feb. 28 -- Fukuhara's contract with the northeast Chinese team expired last December, and she has chosen to play for Guangdong in the coming league season.

The player has already started training with her new team in Guangzhou, and the two sides are expected to sign a contract on March, 15.

Sources say Fukuhara's management company has taken over the Guangdong team, a move that will allow them to gain full control of the player's activities.

18-year-old Fukuhara joined Liaoning last April. She teamed up with world champions Wang Nan and Guo Yue to win the league title in 2005.
