BOGOTA, Feb. 27 (Xinhuanet) -- At least seven town councilors were killed on Monday by the rebels of Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) in a southern Colombian town, authorities said.
The killing occured in the town of Rivera, 350 km from Bogota, local reports said.
The councillors were meeting in a restaurant when armed men burst in and opened fire on them, killing seven, wounding four more people, including one policeman.
It was second such killing in three days. On Saturday, FARC rebels opened fire on a bus in Caqueta, also in the south west, killing nine people.
The 18,000-strong FARC is the largest and best equipped rebel force in Colombia. Enditem |
