TEHRAN, Feb. 27 (Xinhuanet) -- Two explosions rocked the southern Iranian cities of Dezful and Abadan on Monday, wounding four people, the official IRNA news agency said.

The two bombs, planted inside the offices of the governors general of Abadan and Dezful, two cities of the southwestern province of Khuzestan, detonated Monday morning, wounding fourpeople, the report said without more details.

Khuzestan, a province bordering Iraq, has been a frequent target for bomb attacks recently.

On June 12, 2005, three bombs exploded concurrently near public facilities in Ahvaz, capital city of the province, killing eight persons and wounding dozens of others.

Also in Ahvaz, two bombs hit an IT commercial center On Oct. 15,2005, killing six people and wounding more than 50 others. Two explosions rocked the city again on Jan. 24, 2006, claiming six lives and wounding several others.

With most of the country's 2 million ethnic Arab population living in the province, Khuzestan accounts for almost 90 percent of Iran's nearly 132 billion barrels of proven oil reserves.

Radical conflicts between the government and local people have become a serious concern for the Iranian government, which blames the tension on the continuous provocation of some foreign countries. Enditem
