Compulsory education law to be amended
www.chinaview.cn 2006-02-26 02:28:05

BEIJING, Feb. 26 (Xinhuanet) -- The draft of the amendment of China's law on compulsory education has been for the first time submitted to a session of the Standing Committee of the Nation People's Congress for deliberation.

Entrusted by the State Council, Zhou Ji, minister of education, made an explanation for the amendment to the session on Saturday.

Since its adoption in 1986, the compulsory education law has played an important role in promoting the country's nine-year compulsory education practice.

However, along with the rapid social and economic development, some new problems and situations have occurred and the compulsory education law needs to be amended. Enditem
