MANILA, Feb. 26 (Xinhuanet) -- Philippine Navy Chief Mateo Mayuga has ordered the relief of Marine Commandant Renato Miranda amid talks that some misguided soldiers in Armed Forces are plotting to overthrow the Arroyo government, a Navy spokesman confirmed on Sunday.

Navy spokesman Geronimo Malabanan said Miranda was relieved upon his request to the Navy Chief, citing "personal reasons" which Malabanan and other officials of the Armed Forces refused to elaborate.

Miranda was replaced by his deputy, Nelson Allaga, in a simple turn over ceremony around 4:25 p.m Sunday, said Malabanan.

When asked if Miranda's relief has something to do with the attempt to grab power, Malabanan said that he don't know.

Miranda was not being investigated for involvement in the plot to grab power, Armed Forces public information office chief Tristan Kison said. However, he could not say if Miranda is under restriction.

There were reports on Friday that Miranda was about to join Scout Ranger Regiment commander Danilo Lim and Marine Col. Ariel Querubin in a military uprising against the Arroyo administration. Miranda denied about it very soon. Enditem
