RAMALLAH, Feb. 25 (Xinhuanet) -- Fatah chief in Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) Azzam al-Ahmed said Saturday that the movement didn't decide yet to join Hamas-led cabinet, clarifying that disagreements with Hamas are "political".
Al-Ahmed told reporters that it was clear in President Mahmoud Abbas' speech he addressed before the new PLC's first session last Saturday that the PNA and Fatah movement are committed to the agreements it signed with Israel.
Al-Ahmed noted that Hamas political program was discussed during a meeting last week between Abbas and Hamas leaders in Gaza and Hamas promised Abbas that it would give an answer to the official Palestinian political demands soon.
However, during the first ever meeting held between Fatah and Hamas leaders in Gaza after the election, both didn't reach to an agreement whether Fatah would join the cabinet or not, he said, adding "further meetings are to be held soon."
He clarified that during the meeting it was agreed to present a written sheet including the next cabinet's political program, in which it should go with President Abbas program he was elected on its basics.
Abbas had earlier told Israeli Television Channel 10 that Hamas constitution before it joined the election was a constitution of opposition, adding "now it should put a constitution of a cabinet. " Meanwhile, al-Ahmed called the whole world and the Quartet Committee to continue implementing the roadmap plan for peace and obliging Israel to carry out its obligations towards the plan. Enditem |
