BAGHDAD, Feb. 25 (Xinhuanet) -- Police found 14 bodies of Iraqi police commandos Saturday following overnight clashes in southern Baghdad, an Interior Ministry official told Xinhua.

"Police found the bodies near the Quaisy mosque in southwestern Baghdad. Last night, they clashed with gunmen wearing black clothes who were attacking the mosque," the source said, adding that the bodies were taken to one of the commando centers.

"Two rooms of the mosque were also set ablaze," the source said.

The latest incident came as sectarian violence is on the rise in the country following Wednesday's bombing attack that destroyed a holy Shiite shrine in Samarra, some 120 km north of Baghdad. Enditem
