[Xinhua/Reuters] | The garment factory building collapsed in the
capital's Tejgaon industrial area at about 11:00 a.m. (0500 GMT) Saturday, fire
service officials told Xinhua.
"In our count 12 bodies were found so far and we
rescued about 12 others wounded persons from the rubble of the five-story
building that collapsed for reasons still unknown," said Bangladeshi army rescue
spokesman on condition of anonymity.
But unofficial sources put the death toll at 16.

workers were still trapped inside the building.
The incident was blamed on the flaws in the
construction of the building formerly used as a garment factory.
Now the building was being readied for setting up a
hospital and some construction workers were believed working inside the
building.
This is the second factory building collapse in less
than one year. In April last year a nine-storied building housing a garment
industry near Dhaka collapsed, killing 74 workers and wounding hundreds others.
