MANILA, Feb. 25 (Xinhuanet) -- Philippine police
early Saturday morning raided the Manila office of Daily Tribune, a newspaper
critical of Philippine president, and confiscated several copies of its Saturday
issue, according to local media.
Police officers from the Criminal Investigation and
Detection Group entered the editorial office of Daily Tribune in Manila at
around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, according to local TV station ANC.
Reports said there were no more editorial staff
members present when the policemen arrived.
A radio report said about 15 policemen took copies of
the paper's Saturday issue and copies of photographs before leaving the office.
A few of the policemen stayed outside the editorial
office, saying they wanted to "secure" the place and make sure that everything
inside remain intact.
Daily Tribune publisher Ninez Cacho-Olivarez said in
a television interview that she would file a suit at the Supreme Court.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo Friday placed the
Philippines under a state of emergency and ordered the military and police to
arrest opposition forces involved in a coup attempt against the government.
