MANILA, Feb. 24 (Xinhuanet) -- The Philippine troops remain tightly under control in the chain of command, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Generoso Senga reiterated on Friday afternoon as he justified the declaration by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo of the State of Emergency earlier.
"The troop is under full control, adhering to the chain of command," said Senga, accompanied by the chiefs of the Army and Navy, as well as the Defense Secretary at the Armed Forces headquarters Camp Aguinaldo, amid enhanced security.
This is the second time in hours that Senga reassured the military remains loyal to the chain of command and the Constitution amidst fears of a coup attempt against President Arroyo.
When asked if he expects more coup plotters to come out Friday in the military, Senga said "no".
As of the alleged coup plotter Danilo Lim, commander of the First Scout Ranger Regiment, Senga said the officer is still under custody, subject to following fact-finding inquiries. Enditem |
