www.chinaview.cn 2006-02-24 03:08:46

TURIN, Feb. 23 (Xinhuanet) -- A bomb squad investigated a suspicious car parked in front of a resident compound near the Turin Olympics' main media center Thursday afternoon.

With a controlled explosion, police broke into the red Honda car, which was abandoned at Fabio Filzi Piazza with engine running. They towed away the car after an hour-long investigation.

A resident at Fabio Filzi reported to police about the suspicious car and police responded quickly, evacuating over 150 residents and towing away nearby cars.

Police blew open the left door of the car as helicopters hovered overhead on the Via Nizza, a street between two rinks for figure skating and long-track speedskating.

Police captain Cesario Totaro said they were still looking for the car's owner. Enditem
