17 feared dead in Indonesian landslide

    JAKARTA, Feb. 21 (Xinhuanet) -- A day-long torrential rain unleashed a landslide in the Indonesian province of North Sulawesi Tuesday, leaving worries that at least 17 people were killed in the disaster.

    The landslide hit the provincial capital of Manado, some 2,300 km northeast of Jakarta.

    Local authorities said six people were seriously injured and sent to the nearest hospitals, reported the Antara news agency.
