TURIN, Feb. 20 (Xinhuanet) -- Tatiana Navka and Roman Kostomarov captured gold medal here Monday in ice dancing, adding Russia its third gold in the Turin Olympic figure skating competition.

The couple earned 101.37 points in Monday night's free dance, which put them first with a total of 200.64 points.

"This is my dream. Since I was a little girl, I have always been dreaming of becoming an Olympic champion. Today it came true," Navka said at a press conference.

Navka and Kostomarov teamed up in 1998 but their partnership was interrupted after the 1999 world championships when Navka got pregnant.

They reunited in 2000 and landed a gold medal at the 2004 worlds in Dortmund, Germany. They successfully defended their world title in Moscow in 2005. The pair have also won the last three European titles.

Tanith Belbin and Benjamin Agosto ranked second with 196.06 points, wining the United States' first Olympic medal in ice dancing in 30 years.

Belbin is originally from Canada, and she first traveled to the United States at age 14 in search of partners to match her abilities. In a training camp in Detroit, the couple met and started skating together.

Belbin and Agosto were the first US pair in 20 years to win a medal at a world championships when they took silver in 2005, and that was also the US best result for 30 years.
