Kuwaiti crown prince, cabinet to take oath
www.chinaview.cn 2006-02-20 07:53:51

KUWAIT CITY, Feb. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- Kuwaiti crown prince and new cabinet are expected to take oath before the Kuwaiti National Assembly (Parliament) on Monday, the official Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported on Sunday.

Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah would take constitutional oath before the National Assembly at a session on Monday, said the report, adding that the parliament would then hold another session to officially confirm Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah as the new prime minister.

The cabinet would also be sworn in following Sheikh Nasser's installation, according to KUNA.

Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issued decrees on Feb. 7 nominating Sheikh Nawaf as new crown prince of Kuwait and appointing Sheikh Nasser as new prime minister.

Two days later, the new prime minister submitted the list of cabinet ministers to Emir Sheikh Sabah and got his approval.

Emir Sheikh Sabah has succeeded the ailing Sheikh Saad Al-Abdulla Al-Sabah, who was removed from the throne by the parliament due to health reasons. Enditem
