ATHENS, Feb. 16 (Xinhuanet) -- The lethal bird flu virus has been found in two
more dead swans in northern Greece, tests confirmed on Thursday.
So far, tests conducted in Britain have confirmed seven swans found dead
around Thessaloniki, Greece's second largest city, to be positive for the H5N1
virus, according to the Athens News Agency (ANA).
Greek authorities have ordered all poultry farmers to keep their birds in
coops, and have also set up disinfection programs within a 10-km radius of the
infected sites near Thessaloniki.
The government has banned the sale of live birds in markets and forbidden
hunting in the affected area. Enditem |
