BELGRADE, Feb. 16 (Xinhuanet) -- Croatia said on Thursday it had detected bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) in a dead heifer, in the country's first case of mad cow disease, according to reports reaching here from Zagreb.

    Croatia's state television reported that brain samples from the five-year old heifer had been sent to the Weybridge laboratory in Britain for definite confirmation. Enditem
