ISLAMABAD, Feb. 15 (Xinhuanet) -- A court in Pakistan on Wednesday declared the husband of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto proclaimed offender and issued his perpetual arrest warrants on corruption charges.
The National Accountability Court (NAB) issued arrest warrants for Asif Ali Zardari in a case of illegal acquired assets beyond known sources of income, a court statement said.
Zardari is living with his self-exiled wife in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.
The court also issued an order advising him to appear before the court within 40 days, the court statement said.
The prosecutor of the NAB has also been advised to file application before court for attachment/confiscation of Zardari's inland and overseas property according to relevant provisions of law.
Zardari and his spouse Benazir Bhutto have already been declared proclaimed offenders in another corruption case followed by issuance of Red Notices by the Interpol, the statement said. Enditem |
