Muslims protest in Brussels against Prophet cartoons

BRUSSELS, Feb. 14 (Xinhuanet) -- Some 100 Muslims protested Tuesday in Brussels against cartoons of Islam's Prophet Mohammad.

The protestors read a letter aloud condemning "the blasphemy and the humiliation" disseminated by the cartoons published by some European media.

They presented another letter to the Danish embassy, demanding legislation to defend religions and to ensure respect for them, Flemish broadcaster VRT reported.

The protest, which involved representatives of various Islamic religious associations, passed off without incident.

Tuesday's protest is the latest of such demonstrations in Belgium. Peaceful protests were held in Brussels on Saturday and Friday.

However, violence marred an otherwise peaceful protest in Antwerp, a city in northern Belgium, on Saturday. Enditem
