JAKARTA, Feb. 14 (Xinhuanet) -- An Indonesian district court on Tuesday handed down the second death penalty to an Australian accused of leading an international drug syndicate.
The court on Bali resort island said Myuran Sukumaran, 24, was guilty of attempting to smuggle more than 8 kg of heroin from the island to Australia.
The court earlier in the day also condemned to death Andrew Chan, 22, another ringleader of the so-called Bali Nine.
Four other defendants have been sentenced to life jail terms inearlier hearings and three others are awaiting verdicts with prosecutors demanding life terms.
The Indonesian firing squad has executed three foreigners for drug trafficking in the past few years. Enditem
