American women ruggers to visit Uganda

    KAMPALA, Feb. 14 (Xinhuanet) -- The Uganda rugby women players aregearing to host their counterparts from America in a series of international games next month, local press reported on Tuesday.

    The Uganda women ruggers will host the Americans for 13 days. The tour will see the two sides play two international 15's matches and the tournament will climax into the Kyadondo Women 7's tournament that will be played on April 1 at Kyadondo rugby club.

    The American team will also hold a number of training clinics with the ladies team before conducting training clinics with the schools around Kampala.

    The American team will be composed of thirty-two Brown players and seven officials. Brown University will field one strong, highly competitive side and one developmental side. The team will be accompanied by Candi Orsini, the backs coach of the national United States women's team. The 13-day tour is expected to help improve the standards of Uganda's women rugby.

    Brown will be the first non-African women's team to play in East Africa.

    The Uganda Women Rugby Association together with Brown University Scrum Captain Jen Hustwitt have initiated the trip. Enditem
