KATHMANDU, Feb. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- Explosions rocked a mid-western city of Nepal on Sunday evening, a district police office (DAO) statement said.

Explosions by suspected anti-government guerrillas rocked Birendranagar city, the headquarters of Surkhet district, some 700km west of Kathmandu, at abound 7:00 p.m. local time (1315 GMT), the DAO said in a press statement.

The government-owned Food Corporation Office was damaged in the incident, the statement added.

There were at least seven serial explosions, the statement noted, adding, "However, there are no casualties reported till now."

Guerrillas have been increasing their armed activities across the country as it marks the 10th anniversary of uprising on Feb. 13, 1996, against the government.

Over 12,000 Nepalese people have been killed since the anti-government insurgency took place in the Himalayan kingdom in February 1996. Enditem
