LUSAKA, Feb. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- Zambia will get an international aid of 500,000 U.S.
dollars to deal with bird flu, local newspaper Sunday Mail reported.
Finance Minister Ng'andu Magande was quoted as saying that the deadly H5N1 bird
flu is a real threat especially now that the bird flu has been reported and
confirmed in Nigeria.
He said some international organizations will send resources to African countries
in four weeks to put preventative measures against the virus and Zambia
will receive about 500,000 dollars to deal with bird flu.
Zambia's western neighboring country Angola has poultry dealings with Nigeria so Zambia has to be extra careful, said the minister. Enditem |
