TURIN, Feb. 10 (Xinhuanet) -- International Olympic
Committee (IOC) President Jacques Rogge on Friday underlined his confidence
again in Beijing staging a successful Olympic Games in 2008.
"We have full confidence in BOCOG that they will be well
organized," Rogge told a press conference after concluding the three-day 118th
IOC session, where the Beijing 2008 Olympic Organizing Committee (BOCOG) updated
the IOC members on the city's latest progress in Games preparation.
"They are very efficient," he added.
Beijing has promised to get all venues ready by the end of
2007so that test events can be held before the Games open on Aug. 8, 2008.
Rogge said that he believes Beijing could avoid the
problems that Athens had suffered in its build-up to the 2004 Olympics.
"Only one pressure in the Olympic Games, that is time. The
date for the opening ceremony is set and that will never change," said the IOC
chief.
Construction woes had long plagued Greece's preparations
and venues were not ready until days before the games started.
