BAGHDAD, Feb. 10 (Xinhuanet) -- The death toll from a car bombing outside a Sunni mosque in southern Baghdad on Friday has reached to seven, with 22 others wounded, a police source told Xinhua.

   "An explosive-laden car parking outside the Sunni al-Iskan al-Shaabi mosque, which is close to a Shiite mosque in the al-Doura district, detonated at about 1:10 p.m. (1010 GMT), killing seven worshippers and wounding 22 others," said Captain Ahmed Abdullah, from Baghdad police.

   The blast occurred as dozens of worshippers were leaving the al-Iskan al-Shaabi mosque after the weekly Friday prayer, Abdullah said.

   Earlier, police said that four people were killed and 21 others wounded in the blast.

   On Thursday night, armed men wearing police commando uniform kidnapped a prominent Sunni cleric from his home in southern Baghdad.

   Friday's explosion came as the Independent Electoral Commission of Iraq confirmed the final results of the Dec. 15 elections, which showed Shiites remained the largest bloc in the 275-member parliament with 128 seats.

   U.S. forces and the Iraqi authorities have expected a rise of violence as the confirmed final election results were announced. Enditem
