LAGOS, Feb. 9 (Xinhuanet) -- The deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu has been found in three more Nigerian farms in the north, a spokesman for the country's agriculture ministry said on Thursday.
"The government has detected the virus in three farms, one in Kaduna (state), one in Kano (state) and the other one in Jos (Plateau state), and we are immunizing the areas," Tope Ajakaiye told Xinhua from the capital Abuja.
Nigeria has accounted for the first outbreak of the deadly H5N1strain of bird flu in Africa, with the death of about 40,000 chickens in a northern farm since January this year, officials said on Wednesday. Enditem |
