    TURIN, Feb. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- Following is a list of venues for the2006 Winter Olympic Games:

    PALASPORT OLIMPICO (Turin)

    Sport: Ice hockey

    Capacity: 12,116 people

    Use after the Games: multi-purpose center

    Designed by a group of architects headed by Arata Isozaki of Japan.

    

    TORINO ESPOSIZIONI (Turin)

    Sport: Ice hockey

    Capacity: 6,165

    A temporary sports facility has been set up at the exhibition center and will be dismantled after the Games.

    

    PALAVELA (Turin)

    Sport: Figure skating, short track speed skating

    Capacity: 8,285

    Use after the Games: Indoor sports, conferences, shows

    An existing exhibition hall was refurbished and an additional facility built inside, according to plans by architects Gae Aulenti and Arnaldo De Bernardi.

    

    OVAL LINGOTTO (Turin)

    Sport: Speed skating

    Capacity: 8,000 spectators

    Use after the Games: Shows, exhibitions

    The Oval Lingotto was built by U.K. group Hok Sports and Italy's Studio Zoppini.

    

    PINEROLO PALAGHIACCIO (near Turin)

    Sport: Curling

    Use after the Games: Curling, ice hockey and skating competitions, shows An existing ice rink was refurbished for the Games.

    

    CESANA SAN SICARIO (Mountains)

    Sport: Biathlon

    Use after the Games: Training, competition, accommodation The shooting range and loops for cross-country skiing were newly built,and an existing building was turned into a service center.

    

    CESANA PARIOL (Mountains)

    Sport: Bobsled, Skeleton, Luge

    Use after the Games: Competitions

    The 1,435-meter competition track was newly built. After the test events, some changes were made to the final bends. There willbe another test in November.

    

    SAUZE D'OULX (Mountains)

    Sport: Freestyle

    The venue includes two new courses and a new ski lift.

    

    SESTRIERE COLLE, SESTRIERE BORGATA (Mountains)

    Sport: Alpine skiing

    Use after the Games: competitions

    Venues include the "Sises" giant slalom course, the"Giovanni A.Agnelli" slalom course, and the "Kandahar Banchetta- Giovanni Nasi" course, which were upgraded for the Games.

    

    SAN SICARIO (Mountains)

    Sport: Alpine skiing

    Use after the Games: competitions The slope is at the top of Monte Fraiteve. A new lift links Sestriere and San Sicario.

    

    PRAGELATO (Mountains)

    Sport: Cross country and Nordic combined

    Use after the Games: training and competitions

    A 10-km loop was built over an existing track. The budget also covers a new snow-making machine.

    

    PRAGELATO (Mountains)

    Sport: Ski jumping

    Use after the Games: training and competitions The venue includes two new competition jumping hills and three new training hills. A new building will be used for meetings, media conferencesand various services.

    

    BARDONECCHIA (Mountains)

    Sport: Snowboarding

    There are two slopes, one of which will host the half pipe competition, the other the parallel giant slalom race. The budget also covers a new snow-making machine. Parts of the venue will be removed after the games and a ski lift reassembled on the giant slalom course.

    

    OLYMPIC VILLAGES

    The villages in Turin, Sestriere and Bardonecchia can house a total of 5,000 athletes, coaches, and Olympic officials. The Turinvillage is due to be consigned in late November, with a budget of 145.02 million euros. The Sestriere village will also be consignedin late November with a budget of 52.45 million euros. The villageat Bardonecchia has already been completed, with a budget of 27.26million euros.

    

    MEDIA VILLAGES

    There will be seven Media villages in Turin and the mountains to house some 10,000 journalists and technicians.Enditem
