LIMA, Feb. 7 (Xinhuanet) -- Peruvian soccer league club Cienciano, will meet the Chivas, from Guadelajara in Mexico on Wednesday in Cusco, Cienciano's home town in southern Peru; the first match of the Libertadores Cup Group One matches, local media reported on Tuesday.
It will be a grudge match, as Chivas battered Cienciano to a 5-1 defeat in Cusco last year, repeating the crushing lesson by defeating the Peruvians 3-1 in the return match in Mexico, in pre-Cup competition in 2005.
The Mexican team reached Arequipa, southern Peru, on Monday night and have already arrived in Cusco, an Andean city 3,400 meters above sea level.
The game will be held in the Inca Garcilas de la Vega stadium at 9:30 p.m. local time (02:30 GMT) with Ecuador's Jose Carpio refereeing. Some 40,000 spectators are expected. Enditem |
