Peru's Palacios leads scorer list in Ecuador soccer league

    QUITO, Feb. 5 (Xinhuanet) -- Peruvian midfielder Roberto Palacios,took the lead in the goalscorers league in Ecuador's soccer league,after scoring three goals in the Sunday's game between Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito (LDUQ) and Ecuador's El Nacional.

    According to local media, Palacios was the main player in the match, which took place on the third day of the Ecuador's closing tournament.

    The LDUQ and Nacional are last years champions -- Liga won the 2005 opening tournament, while Nacional won the closing tournament. The match was held in LDUQ's Casa Blanca stadium, in the middle of a rainstorm that did not discourage fans.

    Palacios, who was substituted before end of the game, left the pitch to a loud ovation. He look set to defend the title of the best foreign footballer in Eucador, awarded him last year by journalists and athletes.

    The LDUQ, which is also competing in the Libertadores Cup has abroad range of foreign players: alongside Palacio there is Argentine Diego Ceballos, Colombian Elkin Murillo and Paraguayans Carlos Espinola and Enrique Vera. Enditem
