Two Jihad militants killed in Israeli airstrike
www.chinaview.cn 2006-02-06 05:28:29

GAZA, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- An Israeli airstrike hit two cars carrying Islamic Jihad militants in Gaza City Sunday night, killing two and injuring five, Palestinian sources said.

An Israeli aircraft fired two missiles, one hit a small car driving down a main street in southern Gaza City neighborhood of Zaitoon, the other hit a second car about 70 meters away on a side road.

Sources in Islamic Jihad confirmed that Adnan Bustan, who headed the armed group's "engineering and manufacturing unit" that produces rockets and explosives, had been killed in the raid.

The missile attack came in response to an Islamic Jihad Qassam rocket attack that wounded five Israelis in Kibbutz Carmiya near the Gaza Strip on Friday, Israeli media said.

There was no immediate comment from the Israel Defense Forces.

Early Sunday morning, an Israeli Apache helicopter fired three missiles at a sports club belonging to the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, an armed wing of Fatah, in southern Gaza City, killing three militants and wounding five others.

The Israeli army confirmed the airstrike, saying that the building was used for training militants on firing rockets at Israel. Enditem
