Iran calls on world to avoid double standards on nuke activity

VIENNA, Feb. 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Javad Vaeidi, deputy secretary of Supreme National Security Council of Iran warned here Saturday that Tehran will resume "full-scale" of uranium enrichment in response to UN nuclear watchdog's decision to report Iran's nuclear issue to the Security Council.

The extraordinary meeting of the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) Board of Governors adopted here Saturday a resolution to report Iran's nuclear issue to the United Nations Security Council over concerns that Tehran is developing nuclear weapons.

The resolution, which was submitted by France, Germany and Britain, was approved with an overwhelming majority from the IAEA decision-making body. Of the 35 members within the IAEA Board of Governors, 27 voted yes, 3 voted no and 5 abstained.

Iran has insisted that its nuclear program is designed to meet rising domestic demand for electricity and that it is fully peaceful. Iran also threatened to end cooperation with IAEA if referred to the UN Security Council. Enditem
