Hezbollah attacks Israeli post in border area
www.chinaview.cn 2006-02-04 04:05:57

BEIRUT, Feb. 3 (Xinhuanet) -- Hezbollah militants attacked an Israeli army post in a disputed area near the southern Lebanese border, wounding at least one person, security sources said on Friday.

Hezbollah militants fired a round of rockets at the army post near the disputed Shebaa Farms in southern Lebanon, said the sources.

Israeli army confirmed the attack, saying they responded by firing artillery.

The attack came two days after a Lebanese shepherd was allegedly killed by Israeli troops in the border area.

Hezbollah, a Shiite militia movement, has been attacking Israeli targets constantly over the border area. Four Hezbollah guerrillas were killed and 11 Israeli soldiers wounded in November 2005 near the area.

The Shebaa Farms area was captured by Israel from Syria in the 1967 Middle East war. The United Nations says it belongs to Syria, but Lebanon claims it with Damascus consent. Enditem
