Karzai condemns publication of Muslim Prophet's cartoons

    KABUL, Feb. 3 (Xinhuanet) -- Afghanistan's President Hamid Karzai on Friday termed the publication of Muslim Prophet's cartoon in some European countries as an insult to Islam and strongly denounced it.

    "We strongly object to the publication of cartoons of our Prophet or of the insult of our religion and we condemn it," he told newsmen at a press conference.

    A Danish newspaper Jylland-Post published a caricature of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) very recently and later on a few dailies had copied it.

    President Karzai also said that Danish Prime Minister had regretted for the publication and the above newspaper in its editorial rendered apology for the offense. Enditem
